Professor Isa Ali Pantami, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in Gombe State, has gained support after Hon. Monica Yahaya Kaltho, another party aspirant, withdrew her court case.

Kaltho had been one of the candidates vying for the PDP governorship ticket and announced that she would step back from a lawsuit filed by some dissatisfied aspirants who were challenging the results of the PDP primary election.

She also showed her backing for Pantami’s campaign and promised to help him win in the 2027 gubernatorial race.

In explaining her choice, Kaltho said she decided to withdraw from the lawsuit after talking with others and listening to advice from Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, a former governor and leader of the PDP in Gombe State.

She mentioned that Dankwambo encouraged her to drop the case for the sake of unity and progress within the party. Kaltho referred to him as a father figure and leader whose advice she greatly values, emphasizing that party unity and Gombe State’s development are more important than personal goals.

Kaltho urged party members to stay focused on the shared goal of winning the 2027 governorship election for the PDP and delivering quality leadership for the state’s residents.

In response, Pantami praised Kaltho for her maturity, love for the country, and dedication to keeping the party united.

He assured her that she is an important member of the PDP and promised that all party members would be included in the joint effort to strengthen the party and improve Gombe State.

To show his gratitude for her support, Pantami visited Kaltho at her home, where he thanked her for dropping the lawsuit and called her choice a selfless act made for the good of both the PDP and the people of Gombe State.
