Bode Ojajuni, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, has emphasized the police command’s dedication to intelligence-led policing, building stronger community partnerships, and safeguarding important national assets during his visit to the Ota Area Command.

This visit was part of the police chief’s effort to engage with various groups throughout the state. It included traditional rulers, local government officials, security agencies, community leaders, industry representatives, and police staff working together to enhance security in the Ota region.

Accompanied by members of the Command Management Team, Ojajuni began his tour with a courtesy call at the palace of Oba Prof. Abdul Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, the Olota of Ota. He also met with other traditional leaders such as the Onitele of Itele, the Onitetiku of Itekun, the Ajana of Ota, and the Onibudo of Ibudo-Ota.

The police commissioner explained that his visit aimed to honor the monarch and recognize the ongoing support from traditional institutions for the Nigeria Police Force.

He noted that the friendly relationship between the palace and the police has played a key role in maintaining peace in Ota. Ojajuni also stated that the command plans to continue strengthening its collaboration with traditional institutions to promote community policing further.

In his speech, Oba Obalanlege praised Ojajuni for the achievements made since he took office, especially through Operation Kosaye, which he called a significant improvement for security in Ogun State.

The king showed trust in the professionalism of the police officers working in the area and promised that the traditional institution would keep supporting efforts to maintain peace and order.

Afterward, the commissioner went to the Ota Area Command Headquarters, where ACP Shola Oladele and other officers welcomed him.

The meeting included important people like Lawal Adewale Wasiu, the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government; Idris Olalekan Kusimo, the Executive Chairman of Ifo Local Government; Abdullah Lawal, who is the Ogun State Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC); various traditional rulers; members from organizations such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), So-Safe Corps, Forest Guards; as well as religious leaders and community representatives.

While speaking to everyone present, Ojajuni highlighted that Ota is one of Ogun State’s leading industrial and commercial hubs with specific security issues that need ongoing teamwork among all involved.

He emphasized that policing is a responsibility shared by everyone and called for better sharing of information, stronger cooperation between agencies, and more community involvement in preventing crime.

The commissioner also pointed out the successes achieved through Operation Kosaye, assuring everyone involved that this intelligence-led operation will keep improving security along the Lagos-Ogun corridor and make it hard for criminals to find safe places.

Ojajuni also presented stakeholders with information about the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV). He explained that this initiative aims to prevent cultism, drug abuse, and other social issues through public awareness and community participation.

He encouraged residents, community leaders, and organizations to support the campaign as part of the effort to create a safer and more secure society.
