48-Hour Curfew Imposed on Jos North Following Fatal Community Attack
The Plateau State Government has declared a 48-hour curfew in the Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) following a violent Sunday night attack. Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Joyce Ramnap, announced the measure in a statement released on Monday in Jos. The restriction aims to restore order after gunmen invaded the Angwan Rukuba community, leaving several residents dead and others injured.
The curfew took effect at midnight on Sunday, March 29, and will remain in place until Wednesday, April 1, 2026. This decisive move follows an emergency collaboration between the state government and various security agencies. Ramnap condemned the “unprovoked attack” on innocent citizens and urged all residents within the LGA to remain calm and law-abiding during this period.
Authorities have assured the public that they are implementing new measures to prevent future violence. Security forces are currently working to track down and arrest the perpetrators behind the Angwan Rukuba assault. The government remains committed to protecting lives and property as the state manages the immediate aftermath of the tragedy.
