Tinubu, APC Leaders Storm Eagle Square for Eighth National Convention
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress on Friday arrived at Eagle Square, Abuja, for the party’s Eighth National Convention amid loud cheers from thousands of supporters.
Tinubu, who is the National Leader of the party, arrived at exactly 8:10 p.m., accompanied by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, alongside top government officials and party leaders.
His arrival sparked excitement among delegates, who chanted “Jagaban” and “Renewed Hope” as he made his way into the venue.
The National Anthem was immediately rendered upon his arrival, signalling the formal commencement of the proceedings.
Earlier, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas had arrived to join other party stakeholders.
Also present were Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq; Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma; and Chairman of the 2026 APC National Convention Central Coordination Committee, Bello Masari.
Other dignitaries included former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, former Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
The convention, which attracted over 8,000 delegates, is expected to ratify constitutional amendments and elect officers to fill vacant positions within the party’s National Working Committee.
