The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu, has emphasised that discipline and operational readiness remain critical to the success of the Nigerian Army’s operations.

Shaibu made this known during an operational visit to the 33 Artillery Brigade at Shadawanka Barracks in Bauchi.

He stressed that discipline must remain the cornerstone of military service, noting that the actions and conduct of personnel should consistently reflect integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

“Take pride in what you are doing; your actions must reflect discipline and integrity, not just in words but in conduct,” he said.

The army chief urged troops to continually assess their performance and ensure alignment with assigned duties, adding that adherence to established procedures and accurate documentation are vital for effective operations.

He also highlighted the importance of sustained operational readiness, noting that troops must always be prepared to respond swiftly to emerging security challenges.

“You have been equipped with knowledge and capability; it is important that you understand how to use them effectively,” he said.

Shaibu further encouraged personnel to maximise their training and make efficient use of available resources.

He commended troops deployed in difficult and remote locations for their resilience and dedication, describing their efforts as essential to maintaining national security.

The COAS also charged Commanding Officers to provide clear leadership and ensure that troops remain focused, alert, and prepared for upcoming operations.

He emphasised that timely communication and strong situational awareness are crucial elements for operational success.
