Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation Empowers New African Reformers
The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation is preparing to empower a new cohort of high-potential African public sector leaders through its six-month executive education initiative. Delivered in partnership with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, the AIG Public Leaders Programme (PLP) provides participants with the strategic insights, networks, and tools essential for driving meaningful reform within public institutions across the continent.
Since its launch in 2021, the programme has established a strong track record of institutional and individual impact. Executive Vice-Chair of the Foundation, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, noted that alumni have already designed and implemented over 230 reform projects within various ministries, departments, and agencies. This hands-on approach has translated into significant career growth, with an impact survey revealing that 62% of participants earned promotions or took on expanded leadership responsibilities following their training.
The Foundation emphasizes that solving the complex challenges facing Africa’s public sector requires more than just well-intentioned policies; it necessitates reformers who can navigate deep-seated institutional realities. By focusing on the capacity and leadership potential of individuals, the initiative aims to create sustainable systemic change. This investment in human capital is viewed as a primary driver for a professionalized and effective public service capable of delivering long-term transformation.
The AIG Public Leaders Programme continues to serve as a bridge between academic excellence and practical governance. As the new group of leaders enters the cycle, the expectation remains that they will return to their respective nations equipped to lead projects that enhance service delivery and transparency. The Foundation remains resolute in its belief that empowered people are the key to unlocking the kind of institutional progress that policy alone cannot achieve.
