ABC Transport Plc has received approval from the Abia State Government to establish a new City Transit Inn (CTI) hotel in Aba, Abia State, as the transport company expands its hospitality business and diversifies its revenue streams.

The planned Aba facility represents the next phase of City Transit Inn’s growth strategy, aimed at strengthening its presence in major commercial centres while providing travellers, business visitors and other customers with affordable, safe and quality accommodation.

The new hotel is expected to feature air-conditioned rooms with private showers, uninterrupted power supply, complimentary internet access and other amenities designed to provide guests with a comfortable stay.

Why Aba?

The choice of Aba reflects the city’s growing commercial and business activities, as well as improvements in infrastructure, including road connectivity and power supply.

As one of the major commercial centres in southeastern Nigeria, Aba provides a strategic market for City Transit Inn, particularly among business travellers, visitors and other customers. The hotel will also complement ABC Transport’s existing passenger transportation and logistics operations in the region.

The Aba project forms part of a broader hospitality expansion programme that could see City Transit Inn establish additional facilities in Port Harcourt and Lagos.

Building on CTI Abuja’s Experience

The expansion builds on the experience of City Transit Inn Abuja, a 113-room budget-friendly hotel owned and operated by ABC Transport since 2001.

The Abuja facility has served travellers and visitors with affordable and decent accommodation, providing the company with more than two decades of experience in hospitality operations.

The experience gained from running the Abuja property is expected to provide a strong foundation for CTI’s expansion into other commercial centres, with Aba marking a significant step in the brand’s growth strategy.

Diversification Strategy

The expansion of City Transit Inn is also part of ABC Transport’s broader strategy to strengthen its non-passenger businesses and develop multiple complementary revenue streams beyond traditional passenger transportation.

The company has expanded its haulage and cargo logistics operations in recent years, with the businesses contributing to the Group’s overall growth and profitability.

Its diversification strategy also includes driver training and hospitality, allowing the company to participate in several segments of Nigeria’s transportation and mobility ecosystem.

The planned Aba hotel, therefore, represents not only an expansion of ABC Transport’s hospitality operations but also part of its wider effort to build a more diversified and resilient business portfolio.

ABC Transport Plc operates across passenger transportation, haulage, cargo logistics, hospitality and driver training. Through City Transit Inn, the company has maintained a presence in the hospitality sector for more than two decades.

ABC Transport Plc is quoted on the Nigerian stock market under the ticker ABCTRANS.
