Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has ordered the urgent repair of the Olaiya Bridge in Osogbo. This action is part of efforts to upgrade infrastructure before the opening of the newly finished Okefia Flyover Bridge.

The governor made this announcement on Sunday after he unexpectedly visited the bridge to check its condition.

Concerned about the poor state of the bridge, Adeleke asked the Osun State Ministry of Works to quickly evaluate it, carry out necessary repairs, clean it up, and fix any problems found so that it can match the new Okefia and Lameco flyover bridges.

“The Ministry of Works needs to take immediate action on this Olaiya Bridge. We should clean it up. It is a state asset, and we must ensure it is well maintained. This needs to happen before we open the Okefia Bridge,” said the governor.

Adeleke emphasized that his government is dedicated to taking care of public infrastructure, regardless of which administration started or finished these projects.

“I believe that government is continuous. Our government will complete all inherited projects, and we must properly maintain all completed projects from previous administrations,” he added.

The governor’s order is part of a larger plan to renew infrastructure in the state, aiming to improve safety, functionality, and appearance of public assets throughout Osun State.
