Lagos APC Hails Sanwo-Olu’s Plan to Clean Up the Megacity
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has expressed strong support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s decision to reintroduce the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
Specifically, the party’s Spokesman, Mr. Seye Oladejo, released a statement on Monday describing the move as a proactive step toward better public health.
He noted that the policy demonstrates a “responsible and responsive” approach to managing one of Africa’s fastest-growing megacities.
According to Oladejo, the return of the exercise is essential for instilling a culture of civic responsibility among residents. He explained that for decades, these sessions helped maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the state.
Furthermore, the party believes that the exercise will boost public awareness regarding proper waste disposal and the importance of keeping drainage systems clear to prevent flooding.
In addition to health benefits, the APC views this initiative as a way to encourage residents to take ownership of their immediate surroundings. Consequently, the party is calling on community development associations, market groups, and youth organizations to embrace the program wholeheartedly.
Oladejo emphasized that environmental sustainability is a “shared responsibility” that requires the active participation of every Lagosian.
Ultimately, the state government plans to officially kick off the program in April 2026.
Specifically, the sanitation exercise will take place on the last Saturday of every month between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Moreover, the APC remains confident that this bold policy will transform Lagos into a cleaner and healthier home for all.
