Alake Emerges Consensus Chairman at Ibadan Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has officially ratified the appointment of the former Deputy Governor, Moses Adeyemo Alake, as its new State Chairman. The decision was finalized during a state congress held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan on Tuesday, where party members and stakeholders reached a unanimous consensus to entrust him with the leadership of the party. Alake, who hails from the Oke Ogun region, brings significant administrative experience to the role following his tenure in the state’s executive arm.
The path to his appointment was paved by an ad hoc committee tasked with the zoning of elective offices, whose recommendations were formally adopted by party leadership during a high-level meeting on Monday. This strategic alignment ensured a smooth transition during the congress, reflecting a unified front among the various factions of the party. The event drew several prominent figures, including former Senate Leader Senator Teslim Folarin, Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, Senator Ayo Adeseun, and Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, among other key stakeholders.
By adopting a consensus candidate, the Oyo APC aims to strengthen its internal cohesion and prepare its organizational structure for upcoming political cycles. The gathering at the stadium served not only as a formal ratification of the new executive but also as a platform for the party’s elite to reaffirm their commitment to the zoning agreements and collective leadership
