Rite Foods Donates 600 Coveralls to Ogun State Waste Management Workers to Boost Work Efficiency
In commemoration of this year’s World Cleanup Day and its giant stride in environmental sustainability, Rite Foods Limited, the leading company in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, donated 600 protective coveralls and waste management tools to workers of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) to further boost their effectiveness in their daily operations of keeping the state clean for habitation.
The company stated that the gesture aligns with the objectives of this year’s World Cleanup Day, themed “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities.”
The donation was made to the management of OGWAMA on Wednesday, 30th September 2026, at the authority’s head office in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and underscores Rite Foods’ commitment to environmental sustainability and its quest for a healthy society, especially in Ogun State, where it manufactures its quality brands in its world-class factory with state-of-the-art infrastructure and up-to-the-minute technology.
In his remarks, the Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, Mr. Ekuma Eze, pointed out that the donation was aimed at recognising the contribution of the waste workers to cleaner and healthier communities, while also encouraging environmental preservation and circular economy.
Ekuma Eze said the initiative was designed to appreciate workers whose daily activities are critical to maintaining environmental cleanliness but often receive little recognition, and stated that the donation goes beyond corporate social responsibility, as it also demonstrates how waste generated from industrial operations can be recycled into other useful products.
He disclosed that about 30 per cent of the materials used to produce the coveralls were from recyclable waste of the company’s sausages and beverage wraps, which would have ended up in the drains and landfills, but have been turned into useful materials.
Eze said the company was pursuing a broader waste-management strategy aimed at achieving zero waste to landfill by 2030.
“We believe that by 2030 we should have achieved zero waste to landfill, meaning that the waste we generate from our operations will not end up in the landfill, but be recycled into other useful products,” he said.
According to him, environmental sustainability, which is a focal point of the company, underscores the collaboration with OGWAMA, which he described as an important regulator and stakeholder in the pursuit of a healthy society.
Eze recalled that, last year, the company donated school bags made from recycled waste materials to children in schools in Lagos and Ogun State during the Children’s Day celebration.
Against this backdrop, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor and Managing Director of OGWAMA, Hon. Farouk Akintunde Adeniyi, applauded Rite Foods for the donation and its sustained commitment in promoting a cleaner and healthier environment in the State.
Consequently, the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Environment, Dr. (Mrs.) Kafayat Lawal, commended Rite Foods for the gesture, acknowledging the company’s support for OGWAMA over the years.
She pointed out that the partnership with the organisation has contributed immensely to the efforts of the waste workers in the delivery of their services.
