IGP Disu Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from His Alma Mater

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by his former school, St. Gregory’s College in Lagos.

Disu received this honor during a grand event hosted by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association in Lagos on Saturday, where he was celebrated alongside Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

This award acknowledges Disu’s outstanding career in public service and leadership, recognizing over thirty years of dedication to the Nigeria Police Force.

He completed his secondary education at St. Gregory’s College in 1985 and began his journey with the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent in 1992.

According to CSP Ani Iniedu, the Force Public Relations Officer, this award also highlights Disu’s work in frontline policing, criminal investigations, intelligence operations, international peacekeeping efforts, and senior command roles.

Throughout his career, he has taken on various important positions including Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, Head of the Intelligence Response Team, and Commissioner of Police. He became the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police in February 2026.

The recognition also emphasized his focus on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, staff welfare, community partnerships, and using technology responsibly to enhance policing and public safety.

After receiving the award, Disu thanked the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association and noted that this acknowledgment from his alma mater held special meaning for him.

He reiterated his commitment to serving Nigeria with integrity and aimed to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force as a professional organization that prioritizes accountability and community engagement.

The Force Public Relations Officer stated that the Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to fostering exemplary leadership and professionalism while highlighting how crucial education and mentorship are for developing officers who make significant contributions to national progress.
