Nairametrics is launching the Nairametrics Wealth Academy to help Nigerian investors move from speculation and social-media-driven investment decisions towards evidence-based strategies for building and managing long-term wealth.

The academy, scheduled to launch next month, will bring together investors and professionals in Nigeria and the diaspora with experienced investment practitioners and thought leaders to provide practical frameworks for analysing businesses, evaluating investment opportunities and constructing diversified portfolios.

The initiative comes amid growing access to financial information and investment products, but also increasing reliance by investors on headlines, social media tips, WhatsApp groups and emotions when making financial decisions.

Nairametrics said the Wealth Academy would seek to address that gap by focusing on practical investment strategies rather than financial theory alone.

Participants will be exposed to current market conditions, Nigerian case studies and global investment opportunities, with the programmes covering business analysis, market cycles, portfolio construction and evidence-based investment decisions.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nairametrics, Ugo Obi-Chukwu, said the academy was part of the company’s broader thought leadership strategy and its mission of creating wealth through information.

“For us at Nairametrics, the Wealth Academy is an important part of our broader Thought Leadership franchise and aligns directly with our mission of creating wealth through information,” Obi-Chukwu said.

He said the company already pursues that objective through its business and financial news platform, NMX 100 corporate ranking platform, DealsBook corporate transactions platform, WISE annual investor fair, Nairalytics research and its thought leadership webinars and seminars.

“The Nairametrics Wealth Academy helps us connect the loop by bringing experts, thought leaders and experienced practitioners together with people seeking practical and instructive knowledge that can help them make better financial, investment and business decisions,” he added.

Obi-Chukwu said the academy was built on the belief that wealth creation should be driven by credible information, practical tools and experience rather than guesswork and hearsay.

“Our conviction is simple: wealth creation should not be left to chance, guesswork or hearsay. People need access to credible information, practical tools and the experience of those who understand how markets, businesses and investments actually work,” he said.

The academy will initially offer four investment-focused courses covering both the Nigerian and international capital markets.

The first, NGX Strategy for Picking High Return Stocks, will focus on identifying quality companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange and developing strategies for selecting potentially high-performing equities.

The Strategy for Building a Winning Portfolio will address disciplined portfolio construction and management, while Strategy for Finding Undervalued Stocks will focus on identifying quality companies whose market prices are below their intrinsic value.

The fourth course, Strategy for Building a Winning US Portfolio from Nigeria, will provide a framework for Nigerian investors seeking global diversification through US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds.

The programme therefore extends the investment conversation beyond traditional domestic equities, reflecting the growing ability of Nigerian investors to access international markets and diversify portfolios across geographies and asset classes.

For Nairametrics, the academy represents an expansion from financial information and market reporting into practical investor education, to help participants convert information into better investment and business decisions.

The broader economic significance lies in strengthening financial literacy and investment discipline at a time when more Nigerians are participating directly or indirectly in capital markets.

By equipping investors with frameworks for evaluating businesses, managing risk and diversifying portfolios, the academy seeks to encourage more informed participation in financial markets and support a culture of long-term wealth creation rather than short-term speculation
