Enugu Emerges Overall Winner of 3rd National Para Games in Abuja

Enugu State has emerged overall winner of the 3rd National Para Games, following an outstanding performance at the just-concluded event in Abuja.

Reports show that Enugu topped the medal table with an impressive haul of 40 gold, eight silver, and seven bronze medals, bringing its total to 55.

Bayelsa State finished second with 25 gold, 30 silver, and 34 bronze medals, recording the highest overall medal count of 89, while Edo State placed third with 25 gold, 14 silver, and 12 bronze medals (51 total).

Rivers State came fourth with 21 gold, 21 silver, and 17 bronze medals (59 total), while Lagos State secured fifth position with 20 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze medals (63 total).

In sixth place, Abia State recorded nine gold, 16 silver, and 18 bronze medals (43 total), followed by Plateau State in seventh with eight gold, six silver, and 14 bronze medals (28 total).

Osun State finished eighth with three gold, six silver, and seven bronze medals (16 total), while Adamawa State placed ninth with three gold, three silver, and two bronze medals (8 total).

Kwara State completed the top 10 with two gold, seven silver, and 11 bronze medals (20 total).
Other states on the medal table include Cross River (2 gold, 5 silver, 11 bronze), Ondo (2 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze), Katsina (2 gold, 1 silver, 8 bronze), and Kano (1 gold, 5 silver, 5 bronze).

Niger recorded one gold, three silver, and one bronze medal, while Bauchi secured one gold, two silver, and nine bronze medals. Ekiti finished with one gold, two silver, and five bronze medals, and Benue recorded one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

Kaduna State secured two silver and six bronze medals without a gold, while the host, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recorded two silver and four bronze medals.

Jigawa finished with one silver and two bronze medals, while Kogi and Zamfara recorded one silver and one bronze medal each. Kebbi and Taraba secured one bronze medal apiece.

Several states, including Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Gombe, Imo, Nasarawa, Ogun, Oyo, Sokoto, and Yobe, did not win any medals at the Games.

The 2026 National Para Games featured 15 para sports, including para athletics, para cycling, para karate, para taekwondo, para powerlifting, para badminton, para table tennis, amputee football, para volleyball, para swimming, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, para shooting, para canoeing, and para soccer.

The Games, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, commenced on March 26 and concluded on March 30, showcasing remarkable talent and resilience among athletes across Nigeria.
