BUA Group partners with Austria’s Starlinger to boost packaging manufacturing

In a landmark deal, BUA Group, one of Africa’s leading conglomerates in foods, mining, manufacturing, and industry, has signed a partnership agreement with Starlinger & Co. Limited, a global leader in packaging machinery based in Austria.
The collaboration aims to establish a cutting-edge facility for the production of high-quality packaging materials.
The new production plant will have the capacity to manufacture 600 million polypropylene (PP) block-bottom bags annually, catering to the growing demand for sustainable and innovative packaging solutions.
This expansion diversifies BUA Group’s portfolio and strengthens its capacity to support its expanding operations in cement, sugar, flour, and other sectors.
Highlighting the significance of the agreement, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Founder and Executive Chairman of BUA Group, stated: “This strategic investment ensures that we meet the packaging needs of our factories while supporting our future growth. The agreement represents Starlinger’s largest contract in Africa and its second largest globally, underscoring the scale and ambition of this collaboration.
