Sanwo-Olu meets security chiefs ahead of Tinubu’s visit

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has met with heads of security agencies in the state to review security arrangements and strengthen measures to protect residents during the festive period.

The meeting, held at Lagos House, Ikeja, brought together senior officials from the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and other security and intelligence agencies.

The engagement focused on ongoing security operations and measures to ensure that residents and visitors can move freely and safely during the Yuletide period, which typically records increased movement and commercial activities across Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu said the state’s security architecture had been strengthened through closer coordination among the various agencies. He assured residents that measures were being put in place to maintain law and order throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The governor also said surveillance and patrols would be intensified in major commercial areas and other sensitive locations to prevent criminal activities and ensure prompt response to emergencies.

He urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by providing useful information that could assist authorities in preventing crime.

Sanwo-Olu further appealed to residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly and comply with security directives during the festive period.

The meeting reflects the state government’s continued reliance on inter-agency cooperation in managing security across Lagos, particularly during periods of increased population movement and economic activity.

The governor had also previously assured residents, visitors and investors of the state government’s commitment to maintaining security in Lagos following meetings of the Lagos State Security Council.

As Lagos prepares to receive President Bola Tinubu, who is expected to return to the country through Lagos, security and traffic management have again become important considerations. The Presidency said Tinubu extended his working vacation and would return to Nigeria after the extension.

The state government is expected to continue coordinating with security and other relevant agencies to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during major movements and official engagements in the state.
