Shettima Honours NPA MD Dantsoho with PEBEC Leadership in Action Award
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has been honoured for its progress in improving port efficiency, receiving the Leadership In Action Award from the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) during its Gala Awards Ceremony on Tuesday evening.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, presented the award to the NPA Managing Director, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, in recognition of notable achievements under the Ports & Customs Efficiency Committee, which was established by PEBEC to reduce bottlenecks and enhance service delivery across Nigerian seaports.
The committee, spearheaded by the NPA, has strengthened synergy between the Authority and the Nigeria Customs Service, targeting reduced cargo dwell time, cost-effective vessel handling and faster clearance. These interventions have led to shorter vessel turnaround periods and quicker cargo releases, marking a new level of operational productivity within the maritime domain.
Receiving the award, Dr Dantsoho conveyed gratitude on behalf of the NPA, describing the honour as motivation to intensify ongoing reforms. He emphasised that the award serves as a reminder of the responsibility to sustain and expand operational improvements.
“This recognition is encouragement to pursue even greater milestones,” he noted, reiterating NPA’s commitment to enhancing stakeholder engagement, operational reform and business-friendly port services nationwide.
The event also highlighted efforts by PEBEC to boost Nigeria’s competitiveness by recognising institutions that drive impactful reforms across sectors.
