Police nab hard drug dealer, recover narcotics worth millions in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected narcotics dealer, Mr Ogbu Simon, and recovered 17,500 sachets of Tramadol and 487 packages of Diazepam (D 5) worth approximately N12.2 million.
A crime bulletin made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil on Wednesday, explained that the operation, carried out by detectives from the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters, was based on intelligence provided by a concerned citizen.
He said the suspect is alleged to have been supplying narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi Local Government Area and surrounding regions.
According to the PPRO, the Bauchi Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the Bauchi State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation and has assigned the Operation Restore Peace (ORP) unit to conduct further investigation and apprehend other suspects.
CSP Wakil further disclosed that the police also recovered four bags containing suspected Diazepam (D 5) and Tramadol tablets during the raid on the suspect’s shop in Ningi town.
He said CP Aliyu has affirmed his commitment to combating drug-related crimes and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in preventing and controlling crime.
The PPRO stated that the suspect and exhibits will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.
