Members of the Coalition of Bauchi South Senatorial district have boasted that the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi state would be defeated if the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) gives the governorship ticket to the Senator representing Bauchi south Senatorial district, Shehu Buba Umar ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Special Adviser on Media and Communication to Senator Buba, Comrade Sabo Mohammed stated this during the weekend, when the group comprising of community stakeholders and civil society representatives, staged a peaceful rally from the APC Bauchi local government office to the State Party Secretariat, calling on the senator to contest for Bauchi Governorship seat.

Mohammed who noted that with Senator Buba as APC gubernatorial flagbearer come 2027, the PDP will be a history in Bauchi state, pointed out that the senator has consistently carried along the party membership across all senatorial districts of Bauchi.

Comrade Muhammad who stressed that the Senator remained the most credible APC leader in Bauchi State, emphasised that Nigeria’s leadership, especially at the federal level, must continue to unite citizens across political and regional divides for the APC to remain strong ahead of 2027.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Senator Buba Organization (SBO), Hon. Ibrahim Baba, said the initiative was a non-partisan and non-campaigning appeal, reflecting the collective yearnings of Bauchi South residents for steady, principled, and people-centered leadership capable of driving inclusive growth, security, and good governance.

“This is not a campaign or endorsement. It is a civic expression of our people’s genuine aspirations. We want the party leadership to note that the people of Bauchi South unanimously call on Senator Shehu Buba, Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District to consider the governorship path,” Baba said.

Hon. Ibrahim Baba added that the Senator’s achievements within two years has surpassed expectations, describing his performance as “remarkable, impactful, and people-driven.”

He stressed that the call was fully peaceful, lawful, and aligned with electoral guidelines, reiterating their respect for party structures and democratic processes.

Hon. Ibrahim Baba maintained that senator Buba’s commitment and visibility had kept the party alive after its setback in 2023.

The group also used the opportunity to submit their demand through official party channels.

While receiving the SBO, Chairman of APC in state, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Tilde, thanked them and assured that the party would provide a level playing ground for all aspirants in the forthcoming primaries to ensure that qualified candidate emerge to represent the party at the polls in 2027.
