Dangote Refinery Rolls Out 4,000 CNG Trucks To Cut Fuel Costs

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced the phased deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks aimed at transforming fuel distribution in Nigeria. From August 15, 2025, the refinery will begin delivering petrol and diesel directly to filling stations, industries, telecoms, aviation, and other high-volume users at no logistics cost to marketers.
According to the refinery, the initiative is projected to save Nigerians ₦1.7 trillion annually, lower pump prices, create over 15,000 jobs, and revive dormant fuel stations nationwide. The CNG-powered trucks are also expected to significantly cut carbon emissions, offering a cleaner alternative to diesel-powered transportation.
Part of a ₦720 billion logistics investment, the project will also see the establishment of a nationwide network of CNG stations to guarantee consistent supply and improve energy access for over 42 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Dangote Refinery described the rollout as the start of a more affordable, reliable, and sustainable fuel distribution system for the country.
